How to dress like a Rasta Woman: 10 Tips & Guidelines

  1. Skirts and dresses as Feminine Clothing : Rasta women dress to embrace their feminine qualities. As Empress being able to carry life is a gift from Jah the creator. Wearing skirts only helps to separate us as divine feminine from our Masculine counter parts. Being a woman is a Joy, Rasta women do not wear pants. We enjoy long skirts to our ankles, they may be tight or loose depending our mood and our duties for that day.
  2. Red Yellow and Green Rasta Colors”: Red Yellow and Green are the spiritual colors of Rastafari. We Rastafari wear, “Rasta Colors” in our clothing, In our Jewelry, and Decorate our homes in Rasta Colors too. Rasta colors, mean, love, unity and togetherness. These colors are also found on the Rastafari Lion of Judah Flag. Ttypically Rasta women do not wear pink, however we do if we can match it with a head wrap, for example to give the pink ensemble a “more cultured” appearance. Dressing as a Rasta Woman is all about balance. Don’t forget to check out my “Rastafari Rules for Women” Blog Post
  3. If Tight… no exposed skin: Some Rasta women wear tight clothing, however there are 2 rules that apply #1: No showing of the skin if the garment is tight. #2: The buttocks and Breast area must be clearly covered, so as not to accentuate or define these areas. Rasta women must not resemble prostitutes, or women of Babylon as we Represent Jah and his holiness at all times.
  4. If exposed Skin… Not Tight: There will be days when we as Rasta women will enjoy a loose off the shoulder blouse, or a nice loose skirt to the knees. We Just keep in mind that we are not trying to attract “sexual attention,” as we are not part of the heathen. Rather Rasta Women dress to demonstrate our divine feminine, in a comfortable manner. On these days, we make sure the garment is loose, so that we appear self respectful, and free-flowing and comfortable in our garments, as opposed to, sensual and seductive in tight, skin revealing garments. You understand.
  5. Make-up to a minimum: Rasta women wear makeup only if and meet rasta black womanwhen they have to. 3 Basic rules: Rule#1: Natural Tones, and colors. Rule#2: No lining of the eyes *SCRIPTURE:When Jezebel, the queen mother, heard that Jehu had come to Jezreel, she painted her eyelids and fixed her hair and sat at a window…”* We Rasta women know eye liner is to attract sexual attention from men, and is a type of make typically used by prostitutes. Just leave your eyes normal. Rule#3: Limit the amount of various makeup products. My personal limit is 3. Foundation, lipstick, Eyebrow pencil. That’s only because Rasta women are not allowed to “pluck” their eyebrows as all hair on the body is considered sacred, in Rastafari.
  6. Rasta women Cover her Locks: Rasta women cover the dreadlocks when in Public. We know that our hair represents our faith and is a living sacrifice to Jah. We cover our dreadlocks to respect our faith and ourselves. Rasta Women are aware that in Babylon, sometimes long, loose hanging  hair on a woman attracts the wrong type of attention from men. We wrap our hair so that men and all people who meet and interact with us, see us for who we are as a person, and not our hair style, length, or our hair beauty. Rasta women share our locks glory, with our Kings, children,  and extended family, not strangers, or people we do not know. Naturally at home we allow our locks to breathe free and hang loose.
  7. Rasta women and tights: There will be days when you don’t feel like wearing a skirt. THE MAIN things to consider are, who will I be around today? What activities will I be doing today? Will I be with my Kids? Will there be men around whom I don’t know? Wil I be with My King? When you are with your King all rules apply, but its ok to wear some tights and a long top. As long as effort is made to cover the life portal, and the back area which tend to be round and enticing to men, then you could rock some tights.
  8. Rasta Women’s and T_shirts: Rasta women can wear t-shirts.
    Buy this Rasta Womans t-shirt

Rastafari t-shirts are best. THIS INCLUDES red yellow and green and a Symbol of Rastafari such as, a heart, a Lion, A Rasta Flag, A picture of Empress Menen, or King Selassie I. Tight t-shirts with a bra, and long skirt, is cute for casual days.

  9. Rasta Woman’s  Clothing is Her Uniform: A Rasta womans clothing is her uniform, just like a Rasta mans outfit is his uniform. I like people to know right away when they look at me that, a) I respect my self, b)I represent a spiritual cause and movement,  c)My clothing is a reflection of my mind and thoughts, d)I am not a part of the heathen or heathen mentality, e) my self-esteem is not dependent on my sensuality, or what others I don’t know think of me. Phew, that is a lot. But, Rasta women take their faith seriously. Whats the point other wise?  Empress Menen is my feminine Divine Mentor. Only her, I try to Mimic, nobody else.
  10. No “Babylon” Symbols : No skulls, no upside down cross, no kissing, no polka dots, depictions or symbols on clothing. In Rastafari we believe all energy invites. We do not invite Babylon, death, or, sensuality.

Overcoming Bad Relationships: Lenon Honor & Wife

  1. Facebook (social media) can keep you locked in old patterns – Some people that we know through or on Facebook, may have negative expectations of us as people (perhaps from their past experiences with us)
  2. People might not accept our positive changes – Sometimes people just want you to be on the same (low) level as them. Or they may want to hold you back to make themselves feel better.
  3. Discernment when choosing a life partner – sometimes we find ourselves attracted to someone, but if we be honest with ourselves we will know that person is no good for us as a life partner. We need to have discernment or allow discernment from those that love us when choosing a partner. *(to a certain extent of course.
  4. Positive change comes from you – Positive change comes from you, its a decision you make and decide to embrace. There are others who are willing to do the same.

white women beware of jamaican men!!!!

How to Date a Jamaican man book cover

I don’t mean beware in a bad way, and I don’t mean beware to only white women, but it’s mainly white women who complain about dating a Jamaican Man. I will tell you about my o

own personal experience and you can draw your own conclusions. But before I do I want to tell you a little about me. My name is Empress Yuajah, that is my Rasta name. I am a Rastafari woman who currently resides in Toronto, but my desires is to live in Jamaica by the end of 2013. I have been Rasta from conception but didn’t accept this part of my self completely until about age 31. I am a full-time blogger and Author, also a song writer.  Lets get to it!

White women offended by my honesty

I have written articles in the past about why black men date white women. I noticed white women just get offended and want to tell me off. I wish they would say, thank you. Thank you Empress for your honesty. Because nowhere else am I gonna get the advice of a Jamaican woman who understands the mind of Jamaican men and who will tell me the truth about the motivations of some Jamaican men. But anyway, I have since looked at that page again. I saw that one white women commented without going into a rage. So I will put that page entitled “Why black men date white women – a black womans perspective” back up on my blog. Let it be.

I guess white women see this heading in the search engines and expect to find things like

  • White women have skin like angels
  • hair like silk

Instead I’m calling a spade a spade and they don’t like it. Don’t get me wrong, I think interracial love is beautiful, I haven’t been with a black man in 10 years myself. It’s just that some of the motivations of black men, concerning dating white women, concern me.

I then wrote dating a Jamaican man 12 things women need to know. It’s mostly about having a Jamaican man living in Jamaica, and what you need to know before you start making plans to bring him to America or Canada or before you move down there.

My own Jamaican Man experience

I went to Jamaica in February of 2012. I met a very sexy and very handsome tall Jamaican man. He looked like an Angel sent straight from heaven. To be honest at first I wasn’t so attracted black man black womanto him because I figured a guy like that could never be trusted. Eventually I had to come back home to Canada. So we began corresponding on the phone. 8 months!!! We talked on the phone for 8 months, everyday and I shared my heart and soul with him. One day, he stops calling me. Christmas went by and he didn’t even call me to see if I was alive or dead. At first I was devastated. I felt depressed and pissed off. But I knew somehow deep down inside my self that if I would just allow time to heal my heart, there were some good things to come for me. So that is what I did. When I took the time to think about everything, I realized he was just out to use me, and I am a Jamaican.

Why Beware?

I mentioned in the title for white women to beware because, If I am a Jamaican woman, and something as ridiculous as this can happen to me. Then for someone who is totally clueless about Jamaican culture and experiencing Jamaican culture, by getting to know a Jamaican man for the first time, then her journey has many risks so to speak. If you think I am making this up because I want to make white women look stupid, I am not. Just read my article How to date a Jamaican man and you will read over 100 comments from women having experiences with Jamaican men. Mostly negative.

My advice to white women dating Jamaican men.

My advice to white women dating Jamaican men. Beware. Proceed with caution. Jamaican men can be very alluring. I am not saying there are not good Jamaican men, there are! But if you are a foreign woman, like me, then we need to be cautious and know some things. Read my 12 things women need to know about dating a Jamaican man. I have to get it back up online. It’s just a few bucks. It’s worth it if you are dating a Jamaican man living in Jamaica and you plan to marry him and bring him abroad. Just wanted to let you know. White women have to be extra careful. Why, because you may be playing with a wolf wearing sheep’s clothing and not know it. It happened to me, it can happen to you.  A Jamaican man can use you and break your heart and many times you wont see it coming. Just wanted you to know. Yes not all Jamaican men do this to women, but some do.

Jamaican Rastafari Empress Diary

“Today” – October 31 2012 (Halloween)

today it rained all day.

today while I was getting dressed, I took a moment to ask my self, how can I enjoy to the fullest the day today.

don’t think about yesterday, don’t wonder what is to come tomorrow, just enjoy today.

Today I had a wonderful day.

“yesterday” – October 31 2012 (Halloween)

yesterday I wrote a song while I was brushing my teeth

brush your teeth, everyday

stay away from tooth decay

you will be a better adult

if you get cavities it will be your fault…

that was yesterday.

“I ponder”…- October 31 2012 (Halloween)

I ponder so many things, mostly having to do with ethnicity.

Some people really don’t see color. But most of really do.

I am guilty.

I ponder…why certain people think I need them to make decisions for me concerning my life.

when they have not even a clue what its like to be me

they chalk me up to ‘stupid’ otherwise they wouldn’t think I need them, would they?

just ignorance…really.

“I had a good day today”- October 31 2012 (Halloween)

I wrote a poem

I chose a domain name for my new website

I had good conversation over lunch

I decide u make money by giving people what they want

I listened to my favorite song ‘caution’ by Bob Marley

I realized not all people think the same

I am a little tired but I had a good day today.

“Rastafari a Curse?” – November 1st 2012

I used to think being born Rastafari was a curse.

because no body understood me I felt like a freak.

Now I know there is no bigger honor among men.

Jah bless me every day.

I must do what I know is right as Rasta Empress. This is the one and only way I can find happiness in a very corrupt system that is against all that I stand for, Rastafari.

Sometimes I wish my people could feel even a fraction of what I feel.

The love that I have for Jamaica, the way  I feel so blessed to stare at a  Jamaican mountain, the way I feel clean clear and free, when I even think of a Jamaican beach. Jamaica is my home, the home I never lived in, but know in my heart Jah destined me to live there.

When I am having a bad day, I play the song caution by Bob Marley and all of a sudden I feel 100 percent. It makes me think of driving really fast in a Jamaican mini bus, with all the windows wound all the way down, and the hot Jamaican air blasting in my face. Could there really be any thing better than that? Well yes…going to a Jamaican night club in Jamaica that plays only Rasta Reggae music, and watching all the people move rhythmically the same, but all doing a different dance…this makes me high,. I also enjoy watching the women hold their beer in their hand while they whine slowly to the nice roots rock and reggae. Jah knows I love Jamaica. He made me that way.

It’s not good to work for Satan. Jah made me born with the formula of how to get into heaven,. Can you believe I don’t practice it – for now anyway. I miss those days. But as long as I know it…I am aware of it when a violation comes into my path, that’s most important.

the other day I was getting all excited and ready to start watching a horror movie, it was called, scary or die. So I put the movie in my laptop…It started out that these three people were driving in a pick up truck…then they stopped and had some immigrants hidden and bound in the back of the truck. They proceed to let them out and let them run across the border aimless in the hot heat…then one guy that was in the truck, shot and killed the first older man who started running….that is when I decided that this movie wasnt for me…but I did watch some more…then they shot and killed the other mexican immigrant too. The blood even though I know it was fake disturbed me. Rastafari does not allow me to watch such things. Too much corruption for the mind, I then took the DVD out and called it a night. I

am just rambling any way. I had a nice day today though. I can’t see for the life of me what time I will fall asleep tonight. I am so wound up for some reason.

No More Black Woman and Black Man Love Relationships?

Was it just survival?

Do you think you could find more black man and black woman relationships in the 80s and before because it was an issue of survival? We as a people were still fighting for our rights so to speak during those times. I’m still not sure if I can say we are in the clear. But maybe a lot of black men and black women feel a lot more free pardon the pun, to be who they are and therefore feel like they don’t have to have a black person by their side helping them to fight the fight any more.

What about those who are single and black and who today want to marry within the black nation. Is this something of past. Are these people shit out of luck. If they are you can count me in.

More black men date white

More and more black men now days are opting to date and marry non black women. It makes for slim pickings for a woman like me who refuses to be with someone of a different ethnicity than her, Why you may be asking. Its something that is important to me. It’s who I am, carried, on. I want to mate black to produce black because I am so in love with my culture and my people.

More black women interracial date

Many black women are opting to date outside the black race to, however I feel their reasoning is a little different from the black mans. I feel many black woman are doing this because frankly the black men leave them no other choice since black men are no longer choosing to date black women and b a lot of black women are dating outside their race because they seem to mixing and mingling more outside of the black community and it is a common occurence to date interracial these days.

The matter of respect for black women

I feel like the interracial mixing between white men and black women is more underground, or less public and that the interracial dating and marrying of white women to black men is more mainstream. I feel like the black woman who dates out side of her race does not get the same respect as the black man who dates out side his race

I feel like the black woman is seen as a sell out, where the black man is seen as making the right choice and doing what every man should be doing. When I look at it from the outside. I feel the black woman benefits the most. But maybe that is just my own biased opinion, you figure it out.

what am I to the black man now?

Sometimes I wonder just exactly what I am suppose to be to a  black man who now exclusively sleeps with women non black. I actually have someone in my life like that now. It make for alot of arguments. I think he likes me as a friend because I am the only women in his life who doesn nto want to have sex with him.

I need a black Rasta man!

Being Rastafari, not just cause  a man is black it means I want him. Oh No! he must be Rasta. A true Rasta, and also not too tall please….lol then I may want him. This friend of mine is confusing, the whole friendship is confusing. We had a terrible argument the other day and I said some pretty bad things. oh well.

Black men hate black women now

There are black men nowadays that hate black women so much so they want to show black women how much they hate them. It happens to me all the time. I just turn my head. There are some white women who are extremely jealous of black women’s DNA. The whole thing is diabolical.

Are black men brainwashed?

I am a black woman who loves black, I seek to date and marry black. I don’t have any thing to prove to anybody. I love my self. I feel hurt that black men seek to date out side of their race and feel some how they are better than black woman or that they want to cause pain to black woman. All in all its their own self hate. This is brainwashing at its best folks.

King Selassie married black

What happened to the days of King Selassie and his wife Empress Menen. Another example of a black man and black woman who loved each other. King Selassie married Black. He is seen as a Role model to many Rastafari men.

White girls and Black Rastas

I was having a conversation with a white female friend of mine one day….she asked something I can’t remember the question, my reply to her was “I wont answer that” She said “Why cause true Rastas don’t date white girls…” I looked at her with absolute shock. I said oh my gosh who told you that. She said this girl she use to know. I was shocked to hear that out of her mouth. But then she kept say “right, right?” I told her “yes, real Rastamen do not date white women” she said see I know you don’t have to hide it from me. She said “why” I said “its to keep the blood lines pure”

In Rastafari we have believed in this for a long time. But from years ago you would find Rastamen who did date white women. But there are many who refuse. There are some who do it for financial gain but are not happy in the relationship. Then there are some who wont even let the thought enter their minds.

Which Rastas date white?

Anyway I just find it sad to see that more and more black men are opting not to date black women. the only men that I can see that date black women exclusively are Rastamen, and that’s only some of them. It seems the ones that come from the smaller islands date white women abundantly. Many Jamaican Rasta who live in Jamaica are still interested in black women.

hm well, everybody can do as they like, it is a free country and its 2011. Time for people to make their own decisions and choices concerning love. The time of Black Unity, has ended.

Peace and blessings to all who read this. Unity for all, Jah Ras Tafari

Rastafarian religion, rastafarianism, rastafarian beliefs, rastafari jah

jamaican flag, jamaican flags, jamaica flag, jamaica flagsI have had this Rastafarian religion, and Rastafarianism website for over a year now. Can you believe its been that long. So I figured to make things run a little smoother, and give you a wider selection of information to read, I should put all of whats available on the front page, and not only that, provide a forum for you to ask question and find information and find other Rastas to get to know.

Rastafari religion??? Maybe not so much

Many people are unaware, that The Rastafari religion, is actually not a religion! Rastafari is a spirituality, or a “spiritual mindset.” We have no strict prayer times, or churches that we must attend. Each Rasta does what he or she feels is right from the heart. We are a loving people who try to follow the ways of “the Most High” (Jah Rastafari)  And we do this willingly in our daily life. This is why Rastafari is known as a “way of life!” Not a religion.

Rastafarianism and why there is no “ism”

Many people call our spirituality “Rastafarianism” but a Rasta man or Rasta woman will tell you there is no “ism” in Rastafari, we just are who we are, and again this is not a religion. I have never heard a Jamaican person refer to my spiritual beliefs as “Rastafarianism“, which indicates to me that this was made up by someone who has no knowledge of Rastafari.  We are Rastas, and our beliefs and way of life is called “Rastafari” no “ism” please.

5 Interesting Facts about Rastafari

What is a Rasta man?

Rastafarian Beliefs come from our hearts

Rastafarian beliefs are not something every rasta looked up in a book and made conscious decision to follow. Want to know the really cool thing about Rastafari beliefs. Every rasta pretty much has the same beliefs, like I said not educated on the subject. But, yet somehow we all believe the same thing. You could even find this out by meeting one Rasta, and asking him or her a question, and meet another rasta, and find that 9/10 you will get the same answer. Isnt that cool. All our beliefs are from what we feel inside, spiritually.

Rastafarians and love…

rasta love and dating forumdating a jamaican rastaman, learn how to here! Most Rastafarians are single! unfortunately this is true. Why? you may be wondering to your self. The reason is most of us prefer to date someone who is “Rasta” just like our selves. These spiritual beliefs tend to be rare. Therefore most of us are single. Many Rastafari men will date a woman who is not Rastafari and then later ask the woman to “convert” to his spiritual beliefs. Is this fair? I am not the one to judge. But I know this happens a lot. Me on the other hand I refuse to do that. If the guy was not embracing Rastafari before I met him, then I am not interested. If he does it just because I want him to, then that would mean it’s not coming from the heart. Is it really meaningful then? Read about how to convert and become Rastafari here.

“Rastaman vibration” what is the Rastaman vibration?

bob marley jamaica flag
bob marley jamaican flags on sale

The Rastaman vibration is something only a true Rastaman or true Rastawoman can feel. Well, that is not entirely true. We can feel it…and through or feelings, or words, or creations, we cause others to feel it. The rastaman vibration is something very special, spiritual, loving, beautiful and special. Its sort of like feeling amazing…and full of love. that is why Bob Marley wrote so many songs about love, and good positive vibes, because he wrote his songs from his own personal “rasta man vibration!” Jah Rastafari!

The Rastafari movement and what it means…

The Rastafari movement, I believe was a back to africa movement, that never happened. It was started by Marcus Garvey, who wanted Africans to reclaim their roots culture and land. Marcus Garvey was also a Jamaican, and also seen as a prophet to many Rastafarians. He once made a play in which he stated “look to africa, for the coming of a black king!” Then there was Emperor Hallie Selassie of Ethiopia. Right now for me I am not on a Rastafari movement, but I do seek to create awareness. So people can know the truth and have the right to make choices based on all information, instead of just “some” information.

“Rastafari jah” what does it mean?

When a Rasta man or Rasta woman says “Jah Rastafari” we are paying respect to the Most High. Because we know the Most High created everything. So, we must give our thanks and praises. Most Rasta pay respect to Emperor Hallie Selassie I the first. Rastafari Jah! You see…and just for the fact of that. I give thanks and praise. Jah Rastafari!!!!

bob Marley and his Rastafari songs of togetherness and love

Bob Marley is an example of what it means to be a true Rasta man. He wore dreadlocks and he free formed them. The work he did, was all about Rastafari love and togetherness. He encourage people of color to unite. He sang songs of universal and Romantic love. Rastafari is about love, it’s about freedom, it’s about the almighty Rastafari Jah. Rastafari has always been and will always be. Just like mr Bob Marley him self.

Dreadlocks and Rastafari sexiness

dreadlocks are sexyI believe Dreadlocks are a huge part of Rastafari sexiness. I was afraid that once I showed my locks people were going to look at me weird. In actuality, since I started showing my dreadlocks out in public, I feel more beautiful and more accepted by others. Bob Marley was a beautiful man, but his dreadlocks made him that much more appealing I am sure. When I see a man with locks, I definitely check him out.  If you want to learn how to get dreadlocks rasta hair, just check out this link.

why does jamaica make so many rasta man?

What is it about the island of Jamaica giving birth to so many Rasta man? Hmmm I don’t know the answer, but I feel it has something to do with the deep Christian faith among the people of this great island, and the reggae music. Bob Marley who was a super star rasta reggae singer, was born and raised in Jamaica, and never left. I am very proud of my Jamaican roots. Living in Jamaica is very inspirational on many levels, and Jah is one of the biggest influences over the people. I give thanks.

What does it really mean to be Rasta?

What does it really mean to be Rasta? Plenty of people call them selves many things that they know are not true. I assume people do this to impress others, or because they want something to be proud of. Read about my dating experience with my first “rasta man” we look at the faith differently. Rasta man (jamaican) – how to date him how to love him

How to love a Jamaican Rasta man

rasta man love sexy men
true rasta man Dennis Brown

I have met people who say they are Rasta and are not. So this I write here and now is not about them. I am writing about the “true” Jamaican Rasta man. The kind who is humble, considerate, and gentle. The kind any woman would fall in love with. But these men are not always easy to be with, for many reasons. To sum it all up. If you are not Rasta your self, a Jamaican Rasta man may be difficult to deal with, and hard to understand his motivations.

Be gentle with your Rastaman

Be gentle with your rastaman, he is special and a true gift from God in the deepest meaning possible. Forgive him when he hurts you and is unaware of it.

Give your Rasta man space to be him self

Give your rastaman space to be him self. If you are not Rasta, this is of the utmost importance to keeping your relationship with him healthy and thriving. Not giving your rastaman space is a very fast road to having him run away from you.

Give him lots and lots of love, but be pure and clean spiritually

how to love a rastaman
give rasta lots of love

Give your Jamaican Rasta man, lots and lots and lots…did I say lots? ….of love. The only way your “true” Jamaican rasta man is going to reject your love is if he feels you are not good for him. Which usually means you are acting like your life is to serve the man “downstairs” instead of the man “upstairs” and that we Ras do not accept. So, give him lots of love and affection, and loving attention. If you have a true Jamaican rasta man in your life ladies…believe me you don’t even need a television set, if you catch my drift. Jah makes beautiful things.

Bob Marley had many lovers and many children

Bob Marley had many lovers and as a result had many children. This was his own personal choice.

bob marley had many wives
bob Marley had many lovers

There Rastafari men who don’t even have one lover, there are Rastafari men who are very faithful, there are Rastafari men who wouldn’t even think to cheat on their women. Those men are probably with women who value the faith, and value themselves, among other things. You also have to remember, Bob Marley was a Superstar! Superstars have groupies, and we all know he is not the first man to have a baby with another woman outside of his legal marriage – and he wont be the last!

Are all Jamaican men promiscuous

are all jamaican men promiscuous
jamaican men sure are sexy

There are a lot of Jamaican men who are promiscuous. But I have said it before and I will say it again. I truly believe this is because in places like Canada and the United States they get spoiled. Very spoiled. Most of the women accept this bad behavior, so the men do it because they are getting away with it. One or two bad experiences and we women feel all the men are like that. But truly a Rasta man – a “true” Rasta man is not like that, I know that from my heart. Because The Most High created him to know “right from wrong”

Many women are attracted to the Jamaican Rasta man

Many women are very attracted to The Rasta  man. Some say its the hair (dreadlocks) I say its his inner self that attracts women. The innocence of his soul that is showing, ok yes. Combined with the dreadlocks, and some dark beautiful skin, this is very alluring. So, ladies don’t complain, if you wanted him, and you got him, just know to see someone and to know them are two different things.

My own Jamaican Rasta man, at least I hope ??

Can you believe I don’t officially have my own Jamaican Rasta man? I tell you what being a Rastafari  woman and dating, Is not an easy thing. The other day a guy from Bosnia of all places picked me up. Yes! Bosnia. These types of men are always attracted to me. That’s not what I am supposed to be typing about. There is a guy I met about 2 months ago, physically he is exactly what I asked the most high for. But can we have a relationship? I don’t know. He is in Jamaica right now and will return, in April of this year. He did seem nice ….maybe we can be an item, a Rastafari couple is a beautiful thing! Rastafari!

So why does the Jamaican Rastaman have a bad wrap in relationships?

There are some Jamaican rasta man who “take advantage” of the fact that women find them so attractive. Most are not like this. They no Jah is always watching and always listening and do not wish to be a sinner. This is the truth ladies. So please do not judge the whole bunch because of a few rotten ones. Rastaman knows right from wrong more than any other. And treating people with respect is a big part of our spirituality. Want to know if the Rastafari way of life is right for you….click here.

So whats the verdict on the jamaican rastaman?

There are many who are gentle and have good intentions. If you are a Rastafari woman you increase your chances greatly of having a loving fulfilling relationship. There are some who are “too in love with woman” and therefore sleep around. Knowing who we are and knowing what we Rasta know, these men are the exception and not the rule.

If you have a true Jamaican rastaman in your life, you are blessed you may not know it. But you are blessed. Oh and you don’t have to Jamaican to Rasta, but this is the type I am most familiar with as a Jamaican Rastafari woman.

I hope this article was fun and informative.

Dating outside your race / interracial dating…a form of self hate??

black man white woman loveIs dating outside your Race a form of self hate? I began to wonder about this after I watched a video on YouTube, on a talk show, about white women who say they can “please a black man, better than a black woman can.” There was one guest who came on and said “…you don’t date your own kind because you hate your self, if you loved your self, you would want somebody just like you…” That got me thinking…

Black men dating white women has become the latest fad in my town

More and more african american men are opting to date white women. Is it self hate? is it status?..is it because he thinks it makes him “more acceptable” to whites? Perhaps all of the above. Perhaps none of the above. Maybe some black men are dating white women because this is who they have fallen in love with, and her color is irrelevant.

I think any kind of “exclusive” dating is “hate and racism”, and prejudgment. To assume that you wont like a person, or that you can’t see your self having sex with a certain group, or excluding one group completely as a “no dating” group – this is a form of hate. If you do this to a race that happens to be your own…then yes this is self hate…I know because I have thought this way in the past.

Why is it more acceptable for a black woman to date a white?

IMG_2343_1It seems to be more accepted as “love” when a black woman and a white man are dating, but not if the man is black and the woman is white. Why? Could it be that the black woman, is seen as “being given a better opportunity” or that white men are seen as “more capable” of true love,  therefore it must be a true relationship. I wonder.

black women dating asian men

I have noticed a lot more asian men with black women now a days…is this the latest fad for single black women dating? As a Rastafarian woman, I believe you should be with whoever you love. I mean really love. Not the type of love that is here today and gone tomorrow because someone gains a few inches in the middle section. Real love doesn’t notice weight gain, or other little silly things that people often say is the reason they fell out of love. If an asian man and a black woman truly love each other, then nothing and no body should stop them from being together.

So is dating outside your race a form of self hate?

It can be, if you are dating the other person to ignore  who you are or to avoid your own heritage, culture, or ethnicity. It can be if you hate one or both of your parents and have vowed consciously or unconsciously not to have children of your culture / race. It can be if you can’t call your self your ethnicity out loud and say ” I am ______ and I am proud!” and mean it. Dating outside your race is not always a form of self hate, but it can be if you are doing it for the wrong reasons.

It is my firm belief that rastafarian couples have some of the most sound relationships. Why? Because they have a commonality, or love understanding, and commitment, which stems from their belief in God. Now I am speaking of Jamaican rastafarians. This is what I am, this is what I am familiar with.marriage advice rastafari tips and advice for men and women

50% of american marriages end in divorce – this is what the stats say

This is a fact and maybe that percentage has actually grown since the last time I checked. This is often because the ingredients were not there in the first place to make the marriage a success. What are the ingredients of successful marriage? From my spiritual perspective….

Which brings me to my next question. How many people actually fulfill their marital obligations. Now this is tricky question. There are spiritual marital obligations, social marriage obligations and the unspoken marital obligations. This is why I personally don’t believe that strongly in marriage. There is so much that gets mixed up, and things that shouldnt be the priority are, sometimes people feel pressured the moment they get married and a partner becomes disappointed because an obligation was not fulfilled.
Many Rastafarians stay single for long periods of time between relationships and would rather be “picked up” than do the picking up themselves. This imhow to tell if someone is Rasta guessing is because they see the world differently and rarely look at non rastafarians as someone to settle down with.

many of my views here are based on the fact that I am female, and that I am a dread, and that I cannot be with a non rasta man. I know many rastafarian men who are very willing to date women who are not dreads, however there too exists those who are not.

rastafarians with other rastafarians

Many rastas like to date and settle down with other rastafarians. Marriage to us is the fact that we are with this person, committed to the relationship, and sharing our selves with this person in a way we do not with others. Please note, I am a jamaican rasta, so my views are different from those of say, an american rasta.

I cannot date someone outside of my rasta spiritual beliefs

It is difficult for me, as a dread, to date outside of my spiritual beliefs. I absolutely cannot do it! Even if I tried, I could not do it. As a rastafarian women, to have a rastfarian man in my life is extremely important. Not because this is part of some written doctrine, but because I need to be with someone who understands me through and through. My spirituality is a very important part of who I am. I want to share this aspect of my self with another dread, and him sharing his self with me. Most rastafarian women of Jamaican heritage feel this way.

relationships of yesterday can effect marriages of today

I feel western society is spoiled, and when you have had many partners in your life time, people cannot see their partners anymore. Sometimes we only see what we want our partners to be. So we go for an upgrade. Sometimes this means a divorce, sometimes it means extra marital affairs, sometimes it means somebody younger, slimmer, with more money. The point is we need to start accepting the one we are with as the one we chose. And allow that person to be who they are. Is god a part of your marriage?

Is god a part of your marriage or relationship?

Rasta CoupleIs god a part of your marriage or relationship? The difference between a rastafarian couple having a relationship and a non rastafarian couple is, the way we love god is constant. We stay true to his teachings and the rules of the bible. We make love num#1 in all things we do daily. Love all things as creations of God and perhaps your relationships and or marriage, will be a lot healthier!A marriage should be about love, understanding and communication…this is the basis for a good healthy bond…rastafari! don’t get married, unless you both really want to here are some pointers for a healthy happy relationship…

  • discuss everything
  • make honesty a priority no matter what the subject
  • decide to stay commited to the relationship
  • share bible verses and bible readings together
  • put god first.

If you are dating a rastafarian…

If you have the privilege of dating a rastafarian man or woman, you are a “lucky son of a …..” Really, i mean that… you most likely have someone who is 100 % committed to the relationship and who loves you like no other will. Rastafarians can be, and are pure love in human form. Not only that, chances are they see you the way god sees you. It doesn’t get better than that.

Marriage – a rastafarian perspective

king selassie empress menenDo rastafarians believe in marriage? We don’t make a big deal about getting married, but most of us who are involved in serious relationships with people who are say, christian, or catholic ( non Rastafarians) we have very little issue with getting married if it’s what will make our partner happy. The success any relationship, Rastafarians believe, is a healthy loving relationship is about the commitment of the 2 people involved, from the heart.

what does it really mean to get married?

My question as a rastafarian woman to the people reading this is…what does it really mean to get married anyway? It doesn’t come with any “guarantees”. Relationships should be a bout love and only love. I feel many people who get married now a days, do so for reasons other than just love.

list of some of  wrong reasons a couple might get married

  • all their friends are married
  • for financial gain from the marriage
  • to be able to say, “I am married”
  • to have their own wedding
  • to feel more secure in the relationship
  • to prevent child rearing out-of-wedlock
