Rastafarianism: Q & A

What, why, what does, how…. Rastafari Forum Questions & Answers

Hey guys. I wanted to create a space where those curious about Rastafari could have their questions answered. Ask your questions here. I do not know everything, and my answers will most likely be spiritually based. The reason is, I was born with my faith, so most of the answers about how to live as a Rasta, are already within me. I do not make a point of studying my faith. So you decide if your question is right for me. I came up with the idea to answer your questions here, because I know many people turn to the web for answers….

Most of my answers will come from….

  • The King James version bible
  • The laws that Jah has written on my heart
  • My own life experience
  • What I have learned from other Rastafari.

Ask your Rasta Questions in the Comments

So I will try to come up with some common questions and put them here for now. Any questions beyond, I encourage you to ask me in the comments. I look forward to engaging with you, and answering your questions. Thanks.  If you ask inappropriate questions or deliberately be rude, I will delete and ignore your question or comment. So please keep this in mind. Thanks.

Please keep in mind….Rastafari is not a Religion….

Please keep in mind, Rastafari is not a Religion. Many people expect Religious answers to their questions about Rastafari, but they do not understand that their question is incorrect. Here is an example a person may ask….”How many times a day do Rasta pray?” My answer would be… the question in itself is wrong, you should ask, how important is prayer in Rastafari, is it done in a particular way? So if the questions is wrong I may say so. Here is another incorrect question about the livity. Is it true Rasta men beat their women? Any man of any faith can beat any woman, its not the faith that does the beating its the man himself. So, no not all Rasta men hit the woman they are with, and abuse of all kinds, are against the faith.

So Please feel free to ask your question, sometimes other commentators enjoy answering questions too. one more thing.

People seeking argument as entertainment….

If you are one of those people who come on line, posing as someone who wants to learn about the Rastafari livity, but you are really looking for an argument, I will not entertain you.

Thank you Blessed. love.

10 of the Most common questions about Rastafari answered right here…

  1. Why do Rasta not eat meat?
  2. What is the meaning of the dreadlocks?
  3. Do I have to grow dreadlocks to be a Rasta?
  4. What bible do Rasta Read?
  5. My husband is Rasta, do i have to be one too?
  6. Who is the God of Rastafari
  7. How can I convert to Rastafari?
  8. What are the rules of living as Rasta?
  9. Can a White person be a Rasta?
  10. What is the purpose of the Ital food diet?

Why do Rasta not eat meat? My friend says I can…

First of all you must understand, most of the people on line who are giving Rastafari advice are not Rastafari. I would say 99 percent, and yes some of them even have websites. I kid you not, and they are answering questions on Rastafari. How can you take advice from someone who is not living this way of life them self. This tells me their information is “hand me down.” Meaning it does not come from Jah, and it does not come from their own life experience.

What is the meaning of eating meat in a spiritual sense as a Rasta?

No you are not allowed to eat meat as a Rasta. People say it is allowed because they want to be “easily included” into the faith, instead of “easily excluded.” They want to paint Rastafari as something they can easily include them self into without doing any hard work, or changing of habits. So they, people who are not Rasta, will say eating meat is allowed. No Rasta do not eat meat, unless you want to be a fake Rasta, then you can do whatever you want, and call yourself a Rasta. We Rasta do not eat meat because we embrace life. Eating dead flesh, goes against our belief of embracing life. It is written in the bible anyway, which I  will post here once I find it. Real Rasta do not eat meat. Please do not run me down that they do. If you see someone with locks eating meat, that is not  a Tafari. That is all, please do not run me down in the comments about how I am wrong I will just delete it. Ask a person who was born a Rastafari they will tell you the same thing.

What is The Meaning of Dreadlocks in Rastafari?

The meaning of dreadlocks in Rastafari is a physical representation of a spiritual vow. Dreadlocks represent fidelity, and commitment and awareness of Jah Rastafari. It is born as an inner yearning most f of the time, but some people come into it through logic. It can “just make sense” for them. Because really if Jah is the real God, then some people will natuallry gravitate towards him and his ways with out it being inborn, it just makes sense. So locks, mean finding the truth or expressing the truth of life. This is not the most extensive explanation, but that is it for now.

Blessed love….this page is incomplete…you may still post your questions in the comments.

One thing  I forgot to mention is that even though I blog, I sometimes have a hard time with comments and other aspects of how to use the blog….man….trying to approve comments and respond to them….please be patient with me….

How to cook Ital Rasta Food with 6 Tips

Rastafari eat “No Meat”:

As Rasta we do not eat or cook beef, pork, shell-fish, or anything that has a hoof and chews a cud, as written in the bible.  Rastas are primarily vegan. We eat a lot of Salad, soup and fresh fruits and vegetables. Learn how to make Carrot Curried Soup.

Rastas choose to cook without Salt:

This is what makes the food Ital. Natural and clean. If Rasta must use salt we use sea salt only. Read More about Rasta food laws here.

Rasta aim for Abundance of Flavor in Ital Cooking:

When Rasta cook we aim to make the food flavorful without the use of salt. We use allspice, or we use onion garlic, thyme and tomato pimento, scallion, black pepper, coconut for flavor. Many Jamaican and Caribbean foods are cooked with this vegetable and spice combination.

Rasta eats only Fish with Scales:

Many Rasta love to eat fish, and some Rasta are Vegan. It is a rule from the bible for our spirituality (the Nazarite vow) (Deuteronomy and numbers) that we only eat fish with scales. Salt fish, red herring, king fish, are some Rastafari favorites. Rasta does not eat shell-fish, such as shrimp, or lobster, or crab, as they clean the bottom of the sea, and are therefore are unclean for Rasta to eat.

Rasta cooking often includes Protein and greens:

ackee-and-saltfishRasta knows it is important to eat a diet that promotes strength, especially when one is vegetarian or vegan. Rasta love to incorporate forms of protein and greens and other strength building foods in with their cooking such as beans, peas, nuts and greens, such as calaloo, okra, Yam,green banana, and broccoli.

Rasta food Color and texture:

There is an old saying “People eat with their eyes” You may mix some yellow ackee, with some green calaloo. Or dash some orange pumpkin in with white rice, Jah likes when we include various colored and textured food because it allows us enjoy the food exactly the way the earth grows the food for us.

A book titled “Convert to Rastafari?”

Yes, I am aware that one cannot Convert to Rastafari as Rastafari is not a Religion. I am Tafari, I am aware. However there are many people today who are becoming aware of “the light of Jah,” and seek guidance to live this way of life.

Rasta students seek Rasta Teachers

Rastafari is a way of life that acknowledges Jah in some very specific, special and spiritual ways. Why must one go to a bald head for guidance on Rastafari? Why learn the livity from someone who is a student of the livity themselves?

More Rastafari….More love…..More Unity!

It is my work as Rasta on the Journey, to provide Jah Rastafari guidance to those who seek it. To embrace Rastafari is a blessing. Convert to Rastafari is my way of sharing this blessing of my faith, with those who want to embrace it too. The more Rastafari minded individuals we have on the earth, the better the world will be.

Blessed. Love.

Before you convert to Rastafari there are some things you should know. I really don’t know how far along you are in your journey, but I will share this information with you as if you are just starting out.

Rastafari is a Journey….

rasta-mediation-handbook-book-coverThere will be trials and tribulations as Rasta. Some people don’t like people with locks. They may judge you as lazy, or dirty, or militant, or out of touch with reality. Rasta knows loving Jah is all about the journey, we accept the good with the bad, always looking forward to Zion. So…Just so you know. There are plenty Rasta books you can read for guidance, including Rasta Meditation Handbook, which teaches students of Rastafari about the Journey, of Rastafari.

Rastas are trying to enter Zion….

It is the goal of Every Rasta to enter Holy Mount Zion. We do this by adhering to the rules of Jah laid out for our lives, in the bible. Rasta;s have a few “extra” rules of the Rastafari livity that are not in the bible that have been spiritually inherited, that have more or equal importance. Zion is a place where Jah roams and piece abounds.

Rasta love Africa/Ethiopiaafrica ethiopia

Rasta love African Culture and African Peoples. We honour Africa by studying the history and Culture, and embracing the African Peoples. Rasta have a soft spot for Ethiopia and Ethiopian Peoples as our “Lord and Savior” King Selassie I is from Ethiopia, so our love of Africa is always in our Hearts, and on our minds. .

becoming a Rasta? Rasta Love King Selassie I

rasta god, selassieKing Selassie I defended the Garden of Eden, the land where Jah placed his first man and woman that he made (Adam and Eve) as it is written in Genesis. For this Reason, Rasta know, King Selassie I was raised up by Jah to perform this very important task. King Selassie I is whats refered to in the bible as Jah “Elect.” So, Rasta know King Selassie I had a heart for Jah. That he listened to Jah, Loved Jah, and dedicated his life to SERVING Jah. For these reasons Rasta Love King Selassie I because we know that King Selassie I is the face of Jah for those who want to see the face of Jah. King Thanks and praises….Rastafari.

Read the King James Version bible from beginning to end. Then Keep rereading it, from beginning to end, for the rest of your life. This is what Rasta do. No Conversion to Rastafari….!?

There is really know conversion into Rastafari. But It all depends how  you measure this. I measure a Rasta by his willingness to live by all aspects of the faith and have an unwavering dedication to it. For some its having all the knowledge you possibly can about The Rastafari Livity. Rastafari is a way of life not a Religion. There is no physical conversion… so to speak.

Book to Test your Self on Rastafari

I am in the process of completing a book to help those who seriously want to know what Rasta know…and to understand the Rastafari Livity from 51fQ7SPHsSL._SX311_BO1,204,203,200_Biblical times, and how that plays into Rasta of Today. I have also included some information about Bob Marley and Marcus Garvey and The Life of King Selassie I. It comes with Test Questions so that you can read the text and then test your self. I intend to write this book so that you will be able to absorb the most import chapters of all my books, including “How to Become a Rasta” & “Rasta Way of Life” and come away knowing that you are now Rasta!

To convert to Rastafari a person needs 3 basic things…

  1. To absorb as much information as possible. From a person or books.
  2. Lock his/her hair. Allow hair to grow into Dreadlocks
  3. Live the Rastafari Livity without any exceptions. Because if you break the chain “you are still Babylon.”

If Converting to Rastafari to you means, being able to “Reason” (share perspectives on Africa and the Livity and the King James Version Bible) as many Rasta do from time to time…then this book is for you. I hope to be finished by September 1st. Give Thanks. King Selassie I. Convert to Rastafari: 85 Tips, Principles and teachings to convert to Rastafari…..now on amazon.com
