  1. life as a rasta womanJah Rastafari way of lifeJah Way of Life is called “Rastafari.” It was called “The Nazarite Vow,” in biblical times” To live as Rasta is easy. Read my books. Rasta Way of life, Life as a Rasta Woman to learn more. Basically you will eat “clean foods” also known as Ital food, lock your hair, and treat people with The same respect you desire. Fair enough, right?
  2. Jah say, be loving towards your brother – Love your neighbour and other nation people as if they are your brother and sisters. They are your siblings under the name of Jah Rastafari. This is one of the 10 Commandments. The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
  3. rasta_meditation_han_cover_for_kindleJah reminds us to  Keep his Sabbath – This is the part most people fail to understand. The Sabbath is a Day just for Jah. One should Honour it and keep it holy. Jah will reward you I promise. You will only know this after you do it consistently. EVERY time after I keep the Sabbath, something good happens in my life, without fail. In my book on Rasta meditation, I talk about the forgotten “spiritual side” of Rastafari.
  4. To not worship, nor keep any “other Gods” – Jah does not like when his children believe in other Gods, or keep other beliefs, or have idols in their home, or in their way of life. Do not do this. The bible says he will let go and turn us over to our own devices, if and when we do this.
  5. Rasta_Way_of_Life_Cover_for_KindleMake Jah Rastafari #1 in your life in all things each Day. – Make Jah number one. Read your bible, give him thanks for all the things that make you happy, every day. Give thanks for all the things you know you could not live without, like fresh air, food, nature, family etc. Jah loves to be number one, he will take care of you, if you show him that you place him, and acknowledge him as “number 1” in all Things. Some examples praying over your food to Jah, asking him to bless the food before you eat it. When you enter your home, give him thanks, when you wake up in the morning, give him thanks again. Learn how to live with Jah in your life, read Rastafari meditation handbook. These suggestions are simple,  but Jah loves the Honour so much, he will acknowledge and honour you back.

THE CHOICE OF RASTAFARI

Rastafari has specially selected every Rasta, however that Rasta must also choose Rastafari to reap the rewards. It is a two way spiritual street. A Rasta man can be “powerful” or “weak” depending upon how deep he chooses to live and embrace the faith.

Every Rasta knows within themselves if their life is a Reflection of their spiritual beliefs that puts the will and the works of Jah first. When this happens the Rasta woman or Rasta man will be powerful, peaceful, confident and content.

Rastafari is a spiritual gift, if you want to see its power working in your life, you will have to work Rastafari in your life.

May you meet Jah on your Journey, May you know his might and his blessings. Rastafari, King Selassie I.

IMPORTANCE OF KING SELASSIE I AND EMPRESS MENEN IN RASTAFARI

As an aspiring Rasta, You may be wondering about the importance and meaning of King Selassie I and Empress Menen in the Rastafari faith. What role do they play? Why are they so important?  The following is 5  reasons…

IMPORTANCE OF KING SELASSIE I AND EMPRESS MENEN IN RASTAFARI

#1 Royalty and Self Respect

The life and crowning of King Selassie I and Empress Menen in Rastafari, is to demonstrate Royalty, Self Respect

By the example set by the crowning and Relationship of King Selassie I and Empress Menen, Rasta maintain a high standard for ourselves in all things. From the clothing that we choose to wear, to the way we speak, the friendships we keep, and the way we choose to live and view our lives.  Rasta emulates the life and standards of King Alpha and Queen Omega at all times.

How to Emulate “the King & Queen” as Rasta

King Selassie I is the Role Model for the Rasta man, and Empress Menen is the Role Model for the Rasta woman. Some of the ways we as Rasta Emulate the King and Queen are…

Maintaining cordial relationships with others including those who we may consider “difficult to deal with” or whom we may consider to be our “enemies.”

  • Expressing Love and appreciation for our Kingman and Empress as Creations of Jah
  • Speak using consideration for the sensitivity for hearts and minds others

IMPORTANCE OF KING SELASSIE I AND EMPRESS MENEN IN RASTAFARI

 # 2 the Royal Lineage of  King Solomon

Another reason King Selassie I is so important in Rastafari culture is to put a face to the Royal Lineage of King Solomon.

King Selassie I is the 225 direct descendent to sit up on the throne of King David, which was also occupied by the wise King Solomon, who is King David’s son.

Rastafari Legend has it that, The Queen of Sheba and The Wise King Solomon made love and had a baby boy which was named Menilik, who became “King Menelik I.” King Menilik had a son “King Menelik II,” who is King Selassie I uncle. King Selassie I and King Menelik are of “the tribe of Judah,” which is part of biblical Royal history, related to King Solomon.

As Rasta we pay our Respects to King Selassie I as the face of Jah, and all the ordained Kings of the Tribe of Judah.

IMPORTANCE OF KING SELASSIE I AND EMPRESS MENEN IN RASTAFARI # 3

#4 Royal energy in the home

As stated Earlier images of “the King and Queen” as Rasta are reminders of our own Royal Heritage. For this reason Rasta love to have images of the King and Queen in every room in thier home. Including Wall hangings, plaqued photos of the King and Queen, Rastafari mugs, clocks with the Kings face, framed speeches by King Selassie I etc. Rasta believe and feel these Royal images of the King Selassie I and Empress Menen brings positive spiritual Energy into the home and into our lives.

IMPORTANCE OF KING SELASSIE I AND EMPRESS MENEN IN RASTAFARI

#4 Demonstrate Positive history and Heritage

Another Reason Empress Menen and King Selassie I have so much importance in Rastafari culture is that they demonstrate positive African history and heritage.

King Selassie I and Empress Menen were crowned November 2nd 1930. As former slaves, black people have had a hard time in Babylon recovering  the whole truth about our heritage and our history. Many black youth in school only learn that black people were slaves. Not much before black slavery and not much after black slavery, and not much about our contributions to society as a nation.

There were many photos taken of the life of the King and Queen. Jah ordained the crowning of King Selassie I and Empress Menen so that Black people have a positive black role model couple (male and female) after black slavery was abolished. All though the King and Queen are from Africa, and ruled over Ethiopia, in Rastafari, they represent positive role models ordained by Jah for all people of all Nations.

IMPORTANCE OF KING SELASSIE I AND EMPRESS MENEN IN RASTAFARI

# 5 Equality of the Sexes

In the Rastafari Livity, Men and Women are seen as equal, because, the same day

(November 2nd 1930)  King Selassie I was crowned King of Ethiopia, Empress Menen was also crowned, Queen of Ethiopia during the same coronation.

King Selassie I is also known as “The King of Kings” and Empress Menen is also known as “The Queen of Queens” in Rastafari Culture.

IMPORTANCE OF KING SELASSIE I AND EMPRESS MENEN IN RASTAFARI

be a rasta

#6 Self Reliance & Legacy

The King and Queen through hard work and determination created a Legacy between them. King Selassie I created schools in his name, ……..Because of this example Rasta also like to build things in our name that people can utilize positively and that carries the name of Rastafari for generations. Bob Marleys legacy was his music and his message. Through his work, he was also self reliant. He left a legacy for his children, and his children’s children.

The Importance of King Selassie I and Empress Menen in Rastafari Re-cap

  • Generate powerful positive energy through images and words of King Selassie I and Empress Menen displayed in the home
  • Demonstrate positive African history and heritage, and positive African role models to Africans and the World
  • Demonstrate what an image of self respect and dignity looks like in order for one to emulate it
  • To put a face to the Royal lineage of King David and his son King Solomon
  1. Equality of the Sexes: Teach Rasta equality of the sexes. Both King Selassie I and Empress Menen were crowned November 2nd King Selassie I as “King of Kings…” and Empress Menen as “Queen of Queens…”
  • Self Reliance & Legacy: The King and Queen demonstrate to Rasta to Create our own work

6 STEPS TO CONVERT TO RASTAFARI

Many people who want to embrace the faith of Rastafari wonder, “just how do I convert to Rastafari?” The answer is, there is no right or wrong way to Convert to Rastafari. As a Rastafari myself having taken my vow just 7 years ago, there was some inner spiritual things I did, coupled with some outer changes to my environment and lifestyle that helped me to convert my spiritual beliefs from Christianity to Rastafari.

Rastafari is a Journey….

rasta-mediation-handbook-book-coverThere will be trials and tribulations as Rasta. Some people don’t like people with locks. They may judge you as lazy, or dirty, or militant, or out of touch with reality. Rasta knows loving Jah is all about the journey, we accept the good with the bad, always looking forward to Zion. So…Just so you know.

Rastas are trying to enter Zion….

It is the goal of Every Rasta to enter Holy Mount Zion. We do this by adhering to the rules of Jah laid out for our lives, in the bible. Rastas have a few “extra” rules of the Rastafari livity that are not in the bible that have been spiritually inherited, that have more or equal importance. Zion is a place where Jah roams and piece abounds.

Rasta love Africa/Ethiopiaafrica ethiopia

Rasta love African Culture and African Peoples. We honour Africa by studying the history and Culture, and embracing the African Peoples. Rasta have a soft spot for Ethiopia and Ethiopian Peoples as our “Lord and Savior” King Selassie I is from Ethiopia, so our love of Africa is always in our Hearts, and on our minds. .

Rasta Love King Selassie I

rasta god, selassieKing Selassie I defended the Garden of Eden, the land where Jah placed his first man and woman that he made (Adam and Eve) as it is written in Genesis. For this Reason, Rasta know, King Selassie I was raised up by Jah to perform this very important task. King Selassie I is whats refered to in the bible as Jah “Elect.” So, Rasta know King Selassie I had a heart for Jah. That he listened to Jah, Loved Jah, and dedicated his life to SERVING Jah. For these reasons Rasta Love King Selassie I because we know that King Selassie I is the face of Jah for those who want to see the face of Jah. King Thanks and praises….Rastafari.

Rastas are the King James Version Bible….

Rastas are the King James Version Bible. I say are because loving Jah is the life you live. Every Faucet of your life. There are no exceptions. Rasta think Jah. Rasta love Jah. Rasta Serve Jah. Rasta dress Jah. Rasta need Jah. Rastas are humble before Jah. The King James Version bible gives guidelines and advice for all that concerns us, Rasta in life. Read the King James Version bible from beginning to end. Then Keep rereading it, from beginning to end, for the rest of your life. This is what Rasta do. We, Rasta are the King James Version Bible….Living by the words inside….accepting the wisdom and comfort as it comes too natural by absorbing the words of Jah.

No Conversion to Rastafari….!?

There is really know conversion into Rastafari. But It all depends how  you measure this. I measure a Rasta by his willingness to live by all aspects of the faith and have an unwavering dedication to it. For some its having all the knowledge you possibly can about The Rastafari Livity. Rastafari is a way of life not a Religion. There is no physical conversion… so to speak.

Book to Test your Self on Rastafari

I am in the process of completing a book to help those who seriously want to know what Rasta know…and to understand the Rastafari Livity from 51fQ7SPHsSL._SX311_BO1,204,203,200_Biblical times, and how that plays into Rasta of Today. I have also included some information about Bob Marley and Marcus Garvey and The Life of King Selassie I. It comes with Test Questions so that you can read the text and then test your self. I intend to write this book so that you will be able to absorb the most import chapters of all my books, including “How to Become a Rasta” & “Rasta Way of Life” and come away knowing that you are now Rasta!

To convert to Rastafari a person needs 3 basic things…

  1. To absorb as much information as possible. From a person or books.
  2. Lock his/her hair. Allow hair to grow into Dreadlocks
  3. Live the Rastafari Livity without any exceptions. Because if you break the chain “you are still Babylon.”

If Converting to Rastafari to you means, being able to “Reason” (share perspectives on Africa and the Livity and the King James Version Bible) as many Rasta do from time to time…then this book is for you. I hope to be finished by September 1st. Give Thanks. King Selassie I.

Blessings of Wisdom

18 My child, from your youth choose discipline,

and when you have gray hair you will still find wisdom.

19 Come to her like one who plows and sows,

and wait for her good harvest.

For when you cultivate her you will toil but little,

and soon you will eat of her produce.

20 She seems very harsh to the undisciplined;

   fools cannot remain with her.

21 She will be like a heavy stone to test them,

and they will not delay in casting her aside.

22 For wisdom is like her name;

she is not readily perceived by many.

23 Listen, my child, and accept my judgment;

   do not reject my counsel.

24 Put your feet into her fetters,

and your neck into her collar.

25 Bend your shoulders and carry her,

and do not fret under her bonds.

26 Come to her with all your soul,

and keep her ways with all your might.

27 Search out and seek, and she will become known to you;

and when you get hold of her, do not let her go.

28 For at last you will find the rest she gives,

and she will be changed into joy for you.

29 Then her fetters will become for you a strong defense,

and her collar a glorious robe.

30 Her yoke[c] is a golden ornament,

and her bonds a purple cord.

31 You will wear her like a glorious robe,

and put her on like a splendid crown.[d]

32 If you are willing, my child, you can be disciplined,

and if you apply yourself you will become clever.

33 If you love to listen you will gain knowledge,

and if you pay attention you will become wise.

34 Stand in the company of the elders.

Who is wise? Attach yourself to such a one.

35 Be ready to listen to every godly discourse,

and let no wise proverbs escape you.

36 If you see an intelligent person, rise early to visit him;

let your foot wear out his doorstep.

37 Reflect on the statutes of the Lord,

and meditate at all times on his commandments.

It is he who will give insight to[e] your mind,

and your desire for wisdom will be granted.

What is Rastafari?

Rastafari is a daily celebration of African Roots and Culture. The purpose of Rastafari is to guide one to live clean and pure that a person may be deemed “fit” (by Jah) to Enter Holy Mount Zion.

What is a Rasta?

A Rasta is someone who adheres to the Rastafari Livity (way of life). Rasta are “called” to carry “the light” of Jah Rastafari, and to deliver “the message” of this  way of life to others. By this we can see that to embrace the Rastafari way of life  is a responsibility and commitment of the heart.

Beliefs of Rasta about God?

Rasta know that God is Jah. that Jah is an “African” Spirit. That he is very loving, forgiving and very powerful. Rasta “know”that Jah created heaven and earth, the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, and he parted the Red Sea for the Israelites. “Jah” is the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob spoken about in the scriptures of the Christian Bible. Jah “Raised up” King Selassie I as his Elect, to protect the Garden of Eden.

What is The Rastafari Livity?

The Rastafari Livity is a Celebration of African Roots and Culture that honors Jah. Rasta live life daily in all things they do to honor and show love for Jah, Jah Elect and Jah Creations. From the food that is cooked (Ital) clean and natural, to the way we wear our hair (in dreadlocks)fuss and vanity free, to the colors that we wear (Red Yellow and Green).  Rasta Livity is a commitment of love and honour to and for Jah, the Almighty Creator of all living things all the days of our life.

The Spiritual Duty of Rasta

472d67be890623d093bc2ea5faf2fa72.jpg

To love

As Rasta it is our Job to show love. Rasta do not reject love in any form. If someone asks us to do them a favor, we do it…to show even more love. If someone wants to give a Rasta a hug we  do not refuse it. Some more ways Rasta show love is by being there for our friends and families, and Spending time in and surrounded by nature, to show Jah, the creator we love and appreciate the land he has given us. As Rasta showing love is one of the ways  how we honour Jah.

To Live Free

To live Free as Rasta is very important. Rasta believe life should have no restrictions. As long as a person is not “hurting life” or “taking life”, one should

live as one chooses. “Freedom” in life is the  basis for being one with Jah. Freedom to love and honour  Jah, Freedom to Roam, freedom to spend our spiritual time as we choose… Just how Jah, the creator, intended!

To Be a Servant of Jah

jesushand0.jpg

To fulfill the duty of Rasta as Jah servant is very simple.Iit means helping and loving other people. As Rasta we see ourselves as “extensions” of Jah helping hand, heres on earth. Rasta allows Jah to “use us” as his instruments, to provide help, hope assistance whenever the opportunity presents itself. Rasta always say “yes” to opening the door for others, to carrying a grocery bag, to lending money to those who ask. It is the duty of Rasta to Serve Jah by serving his creations (others)

To Enter Holy Mount Zion

The Purpose of the Rastafari Livity is to provide a guide for those who desire to enter Zion (heaven). Zion is where Jah, the Most High roams. There is only love, peace, light, freedom, wholeness, and Jah “light” in Zion. Only those with clean loving, Hearts can enter Zion. It is our Duty as Rasta, to follow Rastafari way of life, as our Guide.. so that our soul may enter Holy Mount Zion.

That was the first portion of the book. I was too excited. I had to share some of it with you. It is not available for purchase just yet. At this rate it will be finished in 1 to 2 weeks.

Read Rasta Way of Life on Amazon.com

Blessed Love to all.

May Jah Guide you and protect you on this life Journey.

WHY ARE YOU A RASTA?

This section is for those new to Rastafari who may be concerned about what to say when asked “Why are you a Rasta?” Here is a suggestion on how to respond. It has two parts.

Why are you a Rasta?

Response:

“I know that King Selassie I is the King of all Kings talked about in Revelation 5:5”

The King James Version bible says…

“…weep not: behold, the lion of the tribe of

Judah, the root of David, hath prevailed to open thebook, and loose the seven seals…”

Why are you a Rasta?

Response:

King Selassie I crowing title is…“King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah, Elect of God.”

See how it matches up perfectly? Wikipedia it!

4 PILLARS OF RASTAFARI HEALTH

In Rastafari culture, good health is an all encompassing endeavor. We believe that good health is a result of…

  1. Healthy choices for the temple
  2. A calm spirit and calm mind
  3. Healthy relationships with others
  4. A close personal relationship with the Jah

RASTAFARI HEALTH PILLAR

Healthy choices for the temple

Rasta do not ingest pharmaceuticals (into the temple)

As Rasta we do everything natural as much as we possibly can. The reason is that we feel that Jah made man, and when he made man he gave them natural roots and herbs for their ailments. Jah did not create pharmaceuticals. Rasta takes herbs, roots and vitamins for most health issues. Many of us have natural health and healing books readily available in our homes. Rasta knows that Babylon created pharmaceuticals to keep making people take them (keep making people sick) so that they become dependent and Babylon makes more money. As Rasta you may purchase your own health and healing book online or your local book store.

I strongly recommend having a book in your home on natural medicine to help guide you into natural medicine and healing awareness.

Good health of the body is for the short and longer term as a Rasta.

Fasting for spiritual Health as Rastafari

Many people do not consider the spirit to be part of the health of the body. I can ensure the spirit is an integral a part of our physical and emotional well being and should be maintained and properly “fed.”

2 Reasons Rastafari fast…

Rasta fast to exercise the spirit so to speak, in the way that we halt a time when we eat so that our mind can experience our existence as the spirit instead of as a physical being driven by physical desires. Doing this as a Rasta helps one to practice self control and to develop spiritual health and awareness.

The other reason is to provide the body s some hours break form digesting food. Everything needs to take a break. It’s just healthy and wise to do so.

Many Rasta fast from Friday at sundown to Saturday at Sundown. Some Rasta fast on Tuesdays, to honor the Ethiopian day of Sabbath. As long as you fast one of these days, then you are covered as a Rasta, for exercising spiritual health and well being.

Rasta Temple cleanse

In the Rastafari Livity we are aware of all of the additives and preservatives that may be in our food, also we know that the human body does a good job of food expulsion. However because we as Rasta practice natural health care, we read and learn that the bowels could use some extra help in ridding itself of “gunk.” Rasta like to do a herbal cleanse once a month, for optimal health, and to promote healthy digestion.

Great read. Answered many of my questions, and clarified some of my confusion. I did find the book a bit repetitive and that was the main drawback.

I really enjoyed the book. There are some spelling and grammatical errors here and there, but overall, I learned a lot more about the Rastafari lifestyle than I thought possible. I felt a “good vibe” from the book. Check this one out if you are curious about what the term Rastafari means to a practitioner.

“Charity” (Excerpt from Rasta book on beliefs)

Hi guys this is just an excerpt from my new Rasta book I am working on….This is on the belief of Charity. Bet you didn’t know we thought like this…

Charity

moneyRastafari believe that those who have money have been given a blessing and a Responsibility by the Most High.

Rastafari believe that money is to be given away to the Poor and needy.

Hording Money is a Sin

We believe that for one to know there are poor people who could make great use of that money that we have accumulated, and yet continue to hoard, as numbers on a bank statement…is a sin. Jah does not like this.

As Rastafari we “know” that to have a great deal of money means we are chosen to act as Delivers and caregivers of the poor and hungry and share the money.

Rasta Responsibility with Wealth

  • As Rasta once we have accumulated a good amount of money we know 3 things

  • We were chosen to have this great wealth

  • It is our duty as Servants of Jah to Share the wealth

To have food to eat each day is a blessing that we share with those who don’t have by sharing our wealth and abundance.

Rasta is very aware that every time we fill our bellies there is someone who is going without. Not because we have filled our bellies, but a full belly reminds us that some have and some do not have.

Rasta believe greatly in giving to the poor, needy and the hungry.

How I support “Charity”

Every time I get paid I buy a homeless person on the street something to eat big or small. I acknowledge them with a smile, and conversation. I know Jah is watching and it creates good Karma for me. It doesn’t have to be a lot of money. You could buy someone a $5 or $10 meal, once, a week or once every 2 weeks. Your belly is full so help someone else’s belly to be full too.
