Caribbean Sauteed Okra Recipe

Okra is typically eaten by people from the Caribbean. It is green and stalky with a slimy inside. But Jamaicans swear it is full of vitamins and nutrients to make you strong.

Jamaican recipe

  1. 1 quarter cup of olive oil
  2. 4-6 garlic cloves minced
  3. I scotch bonnet pepper (you knew that was coming right?)
  4. 50 Okra’s sliced (but not diced)
  5. 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
  6. Black pepper and a dash of sea salt (or leave the salt out)
  7. Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat
  8. add the scotch bonnet pepper , garlic cloves, sliced Okra and
  9. saute for 5 minutes
  10. when the Okra turns brown you are done
  11. stir in the cumin and sea salt and pepper seasoning to your liking
  12. turn the heat down to medium low and saute for 3 more minutes
  13. Until the Okra is completely cooked.
  14. Serve it warm.
